KashRound is live
KashRound is live, with real savings groups, investment clubs, and ROSCAs across Uganda already running their books on it.
Today, we're sharing something we've been building for a long time: KashRound is live.
KashRound is a savings group and investment club management platform, built by our team here at Pirumart for the chamas, merry-go-rounds, ROSCAs, and investment clubs that move billions of shillings across Uganda and East Africa every year, most of them still running on WhatsApp and Excel.
This is the story of why we built it, and what it does.
The problem we set out to solve
Across Uganda and East Africa, millions of people run savings groups: merry-go-rounds, chamas, investment clubs, ROSCAs, table banking circles. These groups collectively manage enormous sums of money, often the only investment vehicle many families have.
And most of them are still run the way they have been for decades: a WhatsApp group, a shared Excel file, and one person, the treasurer, holding the whole picture together in their head.
It works, until it doesn't.
One missed message. One corrupted file. One treasurer who resigns and takes the records with them. A disputed balance nobody can verify. Suddenly, a community's savings, and the trust that holds the group together, is at risk.
We've seen it happen. Some of us have been the treasurer, manually chasing a dozen people for contributions every month, calculating loan interest by hand, and producing a statement everyone debates.
That's the problem KashRound exists to solve.
What KashRound does
KashRound is a digital home for your group: transparent, automated, and built specifically for how savings groups actually operate here, not adapted from Western banking software.
Savings tracking. Every contribution is logged. Every member sees the group balance in real time, no more relying on the treasurer's word.
Loan management. Members request loans, treasurers approve them, and interest is calculated automatically based on the group's own rules. Repayment schedules are tracked end to end.
Investment tracking. Most savings group tools stop at contributions and loans. KashRound goes further, tracking joint investments in shares, land, and businesses, with ROI, dividends, and each member's proportional share of the portfolio. It's one of the things that sets us apart, and it reflects where we've seen groups naturally heading: beyond saving, into investing together.
Automated reports. A full group statement, generated in one click, no more building it from scratch every cycle.
Multi-group access. One login for every group you're part of. Switch between your chama, your investment club, and your merry-go-round without logging out: admin in one, member in another.
Security. Bank-level encryption, two-factor authentication, and a full audit trail of every transaction.
One thing worth being clear about: KashRound is a record-keeping and management tool, not a bank or a payment processor. It doesn't hold your group's funds. Contributions can still be made however your group already collects them (cash, bank transfer, or mobile money), and KashRound tracks the record. Your money stays exactly where your group keeps it.
Where we are today
KashRound has been live and in active use for a while now, and the numbers reflect real groups doing real work on the platform:
- 20+ active groups
- 150+ members
- $200K+ in group funds tracked
- 99.9% uptime
Behind those numbers are treasurers who've gotten their evenings back, and groups that no longer argue over numbers because everyone is looking at the same dashboard.
Why we built it from Kampala
We're a Ugandan team. This isn't a product we read about in a report and decided to build, it's a problem we've lived. That context shapes everything about KashRound: the terminology we use (chama, not "savings circle"; merry-go-round, not "peer lending group"), the way we've designed loan flexibility around how groups here actually set their own rules, and our decision to build investment tracking when most tools stop at loans.
This is African-first software, built for African savings culture, not a Western tool with the language changed.
What's next
Launching KashRound is one product milestone in a bigger mission at Pirumart: building software that solves real problems for real communities across the continent. KashRound is our flagship product today, alongside tools like our Uganda PAYE Calculator and open-source projects for the developer community.
We're continuing to build KashRound in public, sharing what we ship, what we learn, and what's coming next, including mobile money integration, a dedicated mobile app, and WhatsApp notifications, all on the roadmap.
Try it
If your savings group, chama, investment club, or ROSCA is still being run on WhatsApp and Excel, we built this for you.
